Kate Dundas

Council Member

Kate Dundas has forged a career in public policy and media management. Kate's most recent role was Director of ABC Radio, having previously held numerous senior roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, including General Manager Metropolitan Local Radio, Head Music Networks and Head National Networks for ABC Radio and Director of People and Learning for the Corporation.

During her five years as Director ABC Radio (2009-2014) Kate had operational, editorial, marketing and financial responsibility for 60 local radio stations, four national networks, 11 digital stations and all online content and digital products aligned to the portfolio. She delivered two strategic plans leading the move into digital radio, development of streaming, radio apps, digital products and expansion of content across platforms.

In addition to her ABC career, Kate has worked in public and communications policy areas in both state and federal governments, including senior roles in the NSW Premier’s Department as Director Strategic Policy & Reform, and Director Regional Strategic Projects. In this capacity she served as a Board member on the Public Sector Education and Training Association and chaired the National Public Sector Management Program.

Kate has a degree in Communications from Charles Sturt University and has recently taken up a scholarship with the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship at the Centre for Ethical Leadership, University of Melbourne, while continuing her current executive coaching work. She is passionate about the media and cultural life of Australia, ethical leadership, good governance and the importance of communication in developing and delivering on strategy.
