MIKE JONES

Screen Studies Lecturer

Mike Jones has a diverse background that spans writing, script development, technical production, museum exhibtions, documentary and research into screen culture and practice. He is an award winning teacher and writer with extensive experience in media technology, creative production, journalism and online development.

 

Mike has worked both in the US and Australia in script development and is a produced and award winning playwright. He has written extensively on screen industry trends and culture with more than 200 published essays, articles and reviews and several books for students of screen media. Formerly he was manager of the Vectorlab digital media studios at the Powerhouse Museum.

 

Along with tradional screen and broadcast media he has extensive expertise in online development and has been involved in the creation of key documentary and education projects related to cinema and digital media including Wireless to Web (winner of the 2005 ATOM award for best education website) Soundbyte.org (which won the 2003 national Eureka Science Prize for Outstanding Communications Technology) and a NSW State Premier's Award for online production in 2004. In 2007 Mike was presented with the Professional Teachers Council of NSW Outstanding Service Award for Teaching. He is currently developing a crime-fiction web-series, a new book and blogging prolifically.
