The Digital Media department at AFTRS currently offers the following postgraduate level courses specifically for animators and visual effects artists:

 

GRADUATE CERTICATE IN 3D ANIMATION

DEVELOP YOUR PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AS A DIGITAL ARTIST BY DEVELOPING YOUR ABILITY TO CONVEY CHARACTER AND MOVEMENT, AND TELL A STORY IN THE DIGITAL WORLD.
You will be provided with a thorough grounding in the art of 3D animation using AutoDesk Maya software. You will have an opportunity to work collaboratively as part of a creative team, on individual projects, and on a 'real world' brief giving you production-focused learning. The course features a range of masterclasses in areas including character animation, lighting, previsualisation, storyboarding and digital production.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN VISUAL EFFECTS



CONSOLIDATE YOUR VISUAL EFFECTS EXPERIENCE AND DIRECT YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TOWARDS A COMPLETE, ON-SET STUDIO COLLABORATION.


This course teaches you to analyse and breakdown scripts, and to plan and execute visual effects shoots. You will participate in a series of skill-building compositing workshops. Following on from the compositing exercises you will take part in an on-set studio workshop that covers cinematography principles, on-set protocols, techniques for shooting and lighting, use of blue/green screens and a wide range of visual effects elements.
