Directing is a specialised craft that requires creative leadership, visual imagination and a deep understanding of story and character...
The Directing department at AFTRS currently offers the following postgraduate level courses specifically for directors:
GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN DIRECTING FUNDAMENTALS
DEVELOP YOUR VISUAL AND STRUCTURAL STORYTELLING SKILLS, LEARN HOW
TO WORK WITH ACTORS, MEET OTHER FILMMAKERS AND FORM PROFESSIONAL

In this course you will explore the three foundations of
directing: story, cinematic language and performance through
practical camera, sound, story and acting exercises. You will
investigate story structure, cinematic language and performance
direction as you collaborate with your peers on a series of filmed
exercises.
This course overlaps with three other Graduate Certificates
(Screenwriting, Producing and Documentary) giving you the
