The Editing department at AFTRS currently offers the following postgraduate level courses specifically for editors:

 

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDITING DRAMA

IF YOU ARE AN EMERGING EDITOR SEEKING TO INCREASE YOUR DRAMA EDITING SKILLS, THIS COURSE IS IDEAL.


Develop your creative storytelling abilities through editing. In this course you will explore the key role and function of the editor in dramatic storytelling for the screen. You will acquire a combination of conceptual and technical skills, and will be able to practise these skills through editing a variety of dramatic exercises. This course also includes the support of a mentor for the exercises, and informal 'conversations' with guest editors.

GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDITING

DEVELOP YOUR STORYTELLING SKILLS THROUGH THE ART OF EDITING.


If you are a storyteller with high-level editing skills and you are prepared to extend yourself creatively and technically, this course will allow you to develop both the conceptual and practical sides of editing. As you learn to edit for drama and documentary, you will acquire production experience and approaches to storytelling. You will also learn problem-solving skills, gain high level technical expertise, and develop the skills necessary to work collaboratively on screen projects.

MASTER OF SCREEN ARTS*


DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A REAL IMPACT AND CREATE EXCELLENT WORK THAT CUTS THROUGH?


You will initiate and realise a major project that is only limited by your imagination and the resources AFTRS is able to provide. Hone your specialist skills through a tailored, in-depth and intensely practically focused course that will help you achieve mastery in your chosen area of specialisation, and also investigate Australian screen history and big philosophical and sociological ideas in action for context and meaning,. You will be supported to map out your own path in what is an increasingly competitive marketplace as you collaborate with others to achieve genuinely innovative work.


* Only open to AFTRS Graduates who completed a Graduate Diploma between 2009 and 2011. Applicants will need to have demonstrated a high degree of originality and assured craft skills to gain entry into the course.
