Design courses at AFTRS are taught in a professional studio environment and are also supported by an art department for all props and staging needs for production.

Design resources and facilities available for student use include:

  • A Design studio with individual workspaces and drafting boards
  • A studio of networked Macintosh computers with tools including Adobe Photoshop, Vectorworks and 3d Modelling software
  • A3 laser colour printer and large format scanner and printer
  • Digital stills cameras
  • A communal work area for model making and artwork
  • A fully staffed carpentry and props manufacture workshop
  • A managed props and dressings store
  • Stock flats and staging elements
  • Costume workroom with industrial machines and laundry facilities
  • Costume store and stock costumes
  • State of the art sound stages
  • Production and Make–up facilities
