AFTRS is home to the best screen and broadcast training facilities in the country. These include three professional film and television studios, state of the art digital video and audio suites, recording studios, post production suites and dedicated digital media labs.

Interactive media resources available for student use include:

Digital Media (computer animation and interactive media) runs a range of advanced computer facilities for training and production. Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems are used in the production environment linked by a high speed network to large central file servers. There are over forty workstations used for interactive media, computer animation, visual effects and motion graphics design using software including Maya, the Adobe creative suite, Apple Shake, Apple Motion, Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro, Macromedia Flash and Z Brush.

The Laboratory of Advanced Media Production (LAMP) runs a portable lab of iMac computers which are dedicated to rapid prototyping and production purposes. The computers have a full suite of interactive, graphics and editing software installed and are used for production in the areas of virtual worlds, machinima and advanced television. LAMP publishes a wide range of research and resources in the emerging media area including podcasts with industry leaders and current news.

The AFTRS games lab has a Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 consoles and a high end games PC.
