ASTRA is the peak industry body for subscription
television in Australia. The subscription TV industry is the
undisputed market leader of digital broadcasting offering more than
200 channels (including HD and Plus2) broadcast on the FOXTEL,
AUSTAR and OPTUS platforms and received by 34% of Australians
through their homes and over a million more through hotels, clubs
and other entertainment and business venues.
In a bid to support and foster emerging talent within the
subscription television industry, ASTRA created an opportunity for
ten graduating students from the Australian Film Television and
Radio school to gain invaluable experience working within the
industry. The ASTRA Graduate Program is a rare opportunity to work
with one of eight host organisations:
FOXTEL
BBC Worldwide Australia
TV1 & Sci Fi
Showtime Movie Channels
Discovery Networks Asia Pacific
MTV Networks Australia
TVSN/Expo Channel
and
Premier Media Group ( Fox Sports)
The short-term, paid positions commence February 2011 and continue
for 13 weeks, and are offered across a variety of functions
including production, marketing and programming. The ASTRA Graduate
program allows participants to gain transferrable skills and build
relationships to help further develop career goals.
