The Interlibrary Loans service obtains material from other libraries for AFTRS staff and students to support their study, research or teaching programs.

What material is available via interlibrary loan?
Items not held at the AFTRS Library including books, journal articles, conference papers, theses, DVDs. Items not usually available to request on interlibrary loan include rare books, reference materials, whole issues or volumes of serials, materials in heavy demand in the lending library, and very recent publications. Please contact library staff for further advice.
How do I make an interlibrary loan request?
Contact library staff via email (library@aftrs.edu.au) or phone (9805 6440).
How much will it cost?
Depending on how urgently the item is required the cost can vary from between $16.50 and $49.50.
How long does it take?
Requests will be placed as soon as possible after being received. Response time depends on the turn around time of the supplying library or document delivery service. Items requested from overseas will take longer to obtain.
Most libraries, including the AFTRS Library, comply with the service levels recommended by the Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing (ILRS) Code, shown in the table below.

How do I make a payment?
Payment can be made by cash, credit card, eftpos or charged to the appropriate department cost centre.
How will I be notified?
Depending on your preference, the library will contact you by email or phone. You will then need to collect your item from the library.
