AFTRS directing alumnus Amy Gebhardt has just been selected by iconic filmmaker Dr George Miller to be his mentee as part of Screen Australia's You Tube project Map My Summer.

Amy created a trailer, Into the Sun  - a slow motion, dreamy contemplation on the human body immersed in water - for the project which was selected by Dr Miller because he responded to it 'viscerally'.

Dr Miller said; "Although its narrative was minimal, it was, moment to moment, compelling to watch. And once seen it stuck in the mind."

Amy was initially selected to participate in the Map my Summer project along with fellow filmmakers Luke Doolan and Ariel Kleiman on the strength of her international and local wins for her AFTRS student films Walnut  and Look Sharp and consequent achievements since graduating from AFTRS.

We look forward to seeing the completed film in June when it premieres at the Sydney Film Festival.
