It certainly is award season with results now in for the 2011 IF awards and the annual Screen music awards and we can happily report we have a swag of AFTRS alumni in the mix ...

Sydney's Luna Park was the venue for the 2011 IF awards and the big winner on the night was AFTRS Alumnus Kriv Stenders (Cinematography) who picked up 'Best Direction' for Red Dog.

  • In total Red Dog won six awards from the nine categories it was nominated for including: Best Script, Best Music, Best Box Office Achievement, Best Cinematography, Best Actor and Best Feature.
  • Best Sound went to Derryn Pasquill (Sound Design) with Wayne Pashley, Polly McKimm and Fabian Sanjurjo for their work on Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
  • Best Production Design went to Melinda Doring (Design) for Oranges and Sunshine
  • Rachel Perkins (Producing) was presented with an award for her 'Contribution to Television'
The annual Screen Music Awards were also held at the City Recital Hall in Sydney
 and the following AFTRS screen music alumni picked up awards:
  • Best Music for a Documentary: Lachlan Macquarie: Father of Australia. Matteo Zingales (Screen Music)
  • Best Music for a Television Series or Serial: Rake Michael Lira, David McCormack and Antony Partos (Sound)
