Word just in from the UK is that AFTRS alumnus Justin Davies (Producing), who has been living and working for the BBC in London for many years now, has seen three productions he produced nominated for British Academy Television Awards being presented at Royal Festival Hall on May 27.

The nominated programs are:

  • Psychoville (production team; BBC/BBC Online) in the New Media category
  • Jennifer Saunders earns her first BAFTA nomination since 1992 for her role in BBC1's Absolutely Fabulous which Justin produced.
  • Olivia Colman and Hugh Bonneville are both nominated for best performance in a comedy programme for Twenty Twelve (BBC4) also produced by Justin.

Meanwhile The Slap produced and directed by a swag of AFTRS alumni including the likes of Tony Ayres (Screenwriting) and Robert Connolly (Producing) is also nominated in the International category going up against two Danish crime shows; The Killing and political thriller Borgen and US comedy Modern Family.

Best of luck to Justin and the Matchbox Pictures team ...
