Screen Australia has announced over $550,000 in funding for 16 feature film projects. Amongst the recipients include two projects by AFTRS alumni... congratulations to all and good luck with your productions:

The Phobos Experiment
Director: Rowan Woods (Scriptwriting, 1993)
Producer: Penny Wall

Writer Jacquelin Perske (Scriptwriting, 1993)
Genre: Thriller

Synopsis: Their mission: simulated training to take humanity 40 million miles to Mars and back. But what if their mission is a lie? A lie that will push the crew beyond breaking point and into a desperate fight for survival.

Undertow (aka Halfway Motel)

Writer/Director: Miranda Nation (Directing, 2010)
Producers: Lyn Norfor (Screen Business, 2010), Sylvia Wilczynski

Genre: Drama

Synopsis: When a journalist investigates her husband's suspected infidelity, she becomes obsessed by the young girl in question and ensnared in a sex scandal that threatens to engulf her marriage and her sanity.


Also, congratulations to Shannon Murphy (Directing, 2013) for securing an industry placement via Screen Australia's Escalator Programs.  She will spend six months at Endemol/Southern Star under the tutelage of producer (and current AFTRS Master of Screen Arts & Business student) Imogen Banks Murphy, on the productions of Gallipoli, Offspring and Party Tricks.
