Doritos Super Bowl

Jan 18 2016

Melbourne-based director and AFTRS directing alumnus Peter Carstairs is one of three global finalists--and the only Australian to make the cut--in the running to have his ad shown during the American football championship as part of the Doritos “Crash the Superbowl” competition which has a prize value of US$1 million. The winner also gets the opportunity to work with acclaimed director Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice).

With 4,500 entries, Peter's entry, Ultrasound, is a cheeky take on the 'precious moment' parents share when they first see their baby on the ultrasound screen however, in this case dad is far more interested in his packet of Doritos.

To be judged by executives from the Doritos brand team and advertising/marketing experts, the competition which was opened up to a global audience three years ago and has had an Australian finalist each year since then, 2016 is the first time an Aussie entry has made it to the top three.

The three final entries were able to be viewed online and voted for prior to the Superbowl between January 4 and Jan 31 with the winning TVC to be revealed on air during the 2016 game.  Peter and the two other finalists will be at the game at Levi stadium in Santa Clara California.

The winning ad is set to air during the live telecast.
