VR Noir at Vivid

AFTRS + START VR PRESENT VR NOIR: A DAY BEFORE THE NIGHT FOR VIVID SYDNEY 2016


Over four days, as part of the
Vivid Ideas program, visitors will be able to experience Virtual Reality (VR) first hand playing a role inside a Film Noir narrative in the Studio at AFTRS.

Set in an expansive urban setting, created via 360 degree live action photography, cutting-edge VR technology and blended with computer generated visual effects from post production house FSM VR Noir: A Day Before the Night is an exciting and groundbreaking experience perfect for cinephiles, film noir fans, gamers and the VR-curios, keen to see the results of harnessing traditional filmmaking and applying it to the VR 'space'.  

Taking part in the VR Noir 'experience' is a unique opportunity to get up close to Virtual Reality and experience a new kind of visual narrative that is radically different to traditional viewing experiences. Each VR Noir 'experience' plays for 10 minutes, with a maximum of 4 people participating at any one time.

Rated M: suitable for audiences 15 years plus.

In addition to the virtual reality narrative experience VR Noir: A Day Before the Night, AFTRS CEO Neil Peplow is hosting a Q&A with key collaborators.

Specialists from AFTRS and Start VR who created VR Noir: A Day Before the Night will discuss how they navigated the challenges of fusing traditional narrative drama with virtual reality technology.

Vivid Sydney, the annual festival of light, music and ideas runs From May 27 to June 18, 2016
