Learn how to generate new ideas, reset your thinking, reinvigorate existing projects and uncover growth opportunities by using fresh approaches and models.

Working with innovation leader Tarra van Amerongen, you will harness your innate creativity

and leverage the latest innovation methodologies of Design Thinking and rapid prototyping

to re-imagine your business, projects or career in this six week course, delivered via two workshops in Sydney and online.

Practical and interactive, you will work on group and solo challenges and receive ongoing coaching and

individual feedback on your final project.


During the course you will:
  • Learn how to embed innovation and Design Thinking strategies to take your career, project or business in a new direction.
  • Develop concepts which are human-centred and innovative
  • Practice user research methodologies
  • Learn how to conduct user interviews and how to unpack them for insight generation
  • Evaluate industry trends and dynamics through qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Synthesise insights through an idea iteration process and prototyping
  • Develop a concept pitch and test its viability
  • Challenge your thinking to unearth new possibilities

Turbulence is the new normal for the media industries; incumbent business models are being undermined by rapidly changing technology and a global market place at our doorstep.

Audience preferences are ever changing, requiring new ways to reach audiences and develop and deliver content.

If you are feeling challenged by these rapidly changing business models, unsure where you want to take your career, frustrated

that you can’t get your great ideas off paper - then this course will give you the tools to help you move forward.

If you are looking to learn more about Design Thinking and apply it specifically to the challenges present in the film and television industry,

this course is for you.


This course is relevant for individuals from a diverse range of roles and backgrounds.

No prior knowledge of Design Thinking is required, however an open mindset to challenge old ways of thinking and try

new methods in collaboration with your team members is required to get the most out of this course.

This six week course combines two mandatory weekend workshops in Sydney (week one and week five) with weekly online discussions,

readings and assignment work.

You will work on group challenges and receive ongoing coaching from industry thought leaders. In weeks 2,3,4 and 5 participants

should allow for 8 hours assignment work plus one two - hour evening video chat session each week. In week 6 there will be a final

assignment to submit.

Tarra is an innovation leader focused on the intersection of strategy, design and technology.

As Group Director at Fjord Sydney, she takes the agility and hustle of the start-up mindset and the toolset from design thinking and

experimentation to design and launch ground-breaking concepts and business models for some of the most important companies in Australia.

Tarra is a true intrapreneur, advising business leaders how to embed innovation in their business. She has more than fifteen years of experience advising companies on their transformation journey, playing in the unique intersection between design, technology and strategy.

Tarra holds a double Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and International business, and Executive Education

Diplomas in Design Thinking and Experimentation from the University of Technology in Sydney.

Twice an expat, Tarra has worked on complex projects bridging regional and cultural divides across North America,

Europe and Australia. Tarra also teaches service design, business design and consulting skills at UTS for the MBA in Entrepreneurship program.

Students enter the program with venture ideas and are given the skills needed to create user-centred concepts using design thinking,

viability and feasibility analysis, and pitching skills to launch their venture.

Before finding her way to Fjord, Tarra’s diverse background included time spent providing digital transformation consulting in Europe and Australia with Capgemini; focusing on innovation management and capability rollout at the Commonwealth Bank Innovation Lab;

and serving as Strategic Design Lead and BCG Digital Ventures for corporate companies across Asia-Pacific.

RE: FRAME is a program of six practical, interactive modules delivered by industry thought leaders who are actively leveraging

new opportunities for growth.

All courses will invite you to adopt an innovative mindset and to re-evaluate (and possibly reinvent) your skillset, ideas and projects.

All modules are delivered in a format to suit busy media professionals. Innovation will be followed by Audience, Creative Leadership,
