Skill up and learn all the basics so you can shoot, edit and upload your own videos - including Social Video, short documentary and corporate videos. This is an extended/expanded version of our very popular Videomaking 101 course.

What You Will Learn

  • How to shoot - including exposure, framing, focus and putting together a basic kit. (using Sony NX70s)

  • Lighting basics - what to do if you have no lights, and what's the bare minimum it would be handy to have

  • How to record quality sound

  • The basics of coverage - how to tell a story with images successfully

  • Interviewing basics

  • Video editing (using Adobe Premiere Pro)

  • basic titling and effects (using Adobe Premiere Pro)

  • the effective use of Social Media video

  • Storytelling and scriptwriting basics

  • Also how to shoot, edit and upload a story straight from an iPad.

Learn through practical exercises and be taught by Industry practitioners. You'll write, shoot and edit at least two short videos so you can learn by doing. All equipment supplied.

Why Do this Course?

Perhaps you are required to make corporate videos as part of your job - or for your own business? Or maybe you want to make your own videos for your YouTube Channel or Facebook page? Possibly you are an aspiring Doco maker - and you need to get some more practical skills fast, so you can head off into the field. This course will help you get confidence and the basic skills to make watchable videos and tell engaging stories.

Don't do this course if you want to make dramatic stories (eg Short Fillms or Feature films). The focus on this course is for factual storytelling and marketing/social vids.

Level of Experience

You don't need filmmaking experience to do this course, but you do need a level of computer literacy, and familiarity with the MAC environment would be an advantage.
