Head of Directing

Rowan Woods is an award-winning director of television and feature films.

He directed THE BOYS working with his AFTRS colleague writer/producer/director Robert Connolly. THE BOYS starred Toni Collette and David Wenham and was nominated for 9 AFI Awards, winning Best Director and was selected for competition at the Berlin Film Festival.

His acclaimed second feature LITTLE FISH with Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving was nominated for 13 AFI Awards, 11 FCCA Awards, 8 IF Awards, including Best Film and Best Director. Rowan Woods’ US feature FRAGMENTS starred Kate Beckinsale, Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce, and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker.

Rowan Woods directs and sets up major TV drama series. The AACTA and LOGIE winning THE KETTERING INCIDENT was selected in competition for prestigious Series Mania Festival in Paris, winning the International Special Jury Prize. Rowan was also awarded Australian Directors Guild Award for Best Direction in a Telemovie for THE BROKEN SHORE and has directed 4 series of multi-award winning TV series RAKE with AFTRS colleague, writer/producer/director, Peter Duncan.

Rowan Woods’ reputation as drama director is complemented by directing international sci-fi / fantasy TV series lauded for amazing action and VFX. They include FARSCAPE, SPARTACUS, HUNTERS and International Emmy Award winning NOWHERE BOYS with AFTRS graduate, Executive Producer, Tony Ayers.
