1.  About the Diploma in Digital Content: Radio

Learn to create audio, visual and written content online and across social media platforms.

This course gives you both technical and creative skills to produce content to connect with a variety of audiences.

Manage digital content and integrate with on-air. Learn from great digital content strategists.

This course is 100% online and the workload is approximately 7.5 hours a week of course work with additional time for assessments and course related practice activities and includes regular virtual classroom sessions.


2.  Essential requirements for admission

Applicants are required to have completed a certificate of senior secondary education (or establish equivalence through other study and/or professional experience) by the commencement of the program and must submit a certified copy of their highest educational qualification (or other documentation relating to equivalence, if relevant).

Applicants must attempt and submit all specified application tasks. Incomplete applications will not be assessed.


3.  Admission criteria

AFTRS does not assess ATAR. Admission determined through a process of merit-based selection on the basis the assessment of specific application tasks.

Tasks are assessed by a selection panel according to the following three selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated creative potential as evident in support material.
  • Evidence of ability to complete complex tasks.
  • Evidence of original creative thinking and a passion for radio broadcasting.

Admission is assessed on the same basis for applicants from all educational backgrounds: applicants with higher education study; applicants with vocational education and training; applicants with recent secondary education; and applicants with work and life experience.


4.  How to apply

Candidates apply directly to AFTRS through the online application portal. Manual application forms are available for students unable to complete an online application.


5.  Advanced standing/academic credit/recognition of prior learning (RPL)

AFTRS does not recognise prior learning, advanced standing or previous academic credit, except for where students have been previously enrolled in an equivalent program at AFTRS and successfully completed progression requirements for one or more semesters. This credit is granted at the discretion of the Director of Curriculum and Registrar.


6.  Student Profile

Note: applications to the Diploma in Digital Content: Radio are assessed entirely on the basis of submitted application materials, given that applicants have met the prerequisite of a senior secondary certificate of education (or equivalent) according to Australian Qualifications Framework recommendations for admission to undergraduate programs.
