Sandra Levy, Chief Executive of the Australian Film Television and Radio School today announced the appointment of Mark Collier as the new Director of Radio at the national training institution.
Mark was at 2UE for many years as journalist, current affairs broadcaster, News Director, Programme Director, General Manager and then Managing Director. More recently he had a stint on air for 2GB in December 2008/January 2009.
Formerly Head of National Talk Networks, ABC (Radio National, NewsRadio and Rural radio) for five years until 2005, Mark will return to Australia from a stint in south east Asia training media in developing countries, to take up the role in July.
"We are very excited to have a person of the calibre and experience that Mark brings to the role. His experience covers commercial and public broadcasting in regional and metropolitan areas at the highest levels and his passion for the medium is something I believe will be of enormous benefit to our students," said Sandra Levy today.
"It is exciting to be able to work with the next generation of broadcasters, people who will play integral roles in the advancement of a rapidly developing medium with the introduction of digital radio and all the opportunities it delivers," said Collier.
Since the inception of radio courses in the 1980s AFTRS has produced highly skilled graduates who have gone on to achieve high profile careers and many have won Australian Commercial Radio Awards, ABC Radio Awards, and other radio industry accolades.
