Yesterday at CarriageWorks in Eveleigh, in Sydney, the class of
2010 officially graduated at a fantastic ceremony that saw all of
the Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate students receive
their testamurs before a full house of 800 people.
Highlights included a cheeky keynote from Rhys Muldoon and
inspiring words from the 2010 AFTRS Honorary Degree recipient John
Doyle - who was presented with an Honorary Master of Arts in Film
and Television in recognition of his significant contribution to
the screen arts and broadcast sectors. Also announced during
the ceremony were the recipients of some of the key scholarship and
awards, which saw:
Andrew Myer present The Kenneth B Myer Scholarship for
Exceptional Talent that was awarded to two recipients:
Alexander Murawski (Graduate Diploma Directing) and Ben Mathews
(Graduate Diploma Directing)
and The Kenneth B Myer Scholarship for Project
Development also went to two recipients: The Producing Team of:
Pete Mether, Brad Smith and Shannon Wilson (all Graduate Diploma
Producing) and Leonie Savvides (Graduate Diploma Directing)
The AV Myer Indigenous Award for Exceptional
Talent was awarded to Carly Wallace (Graduate Diploma
Radio Broadcasting) and Ella Bancroft (Open Program)
The Foxtel Scholarship for Exceptional New Talent was
presented by FOXTEL CEO, Kim Williams, and was awarded to Jennifer
Leacy (Graduate Diploma Directing)
The European Union Travelling Scholarship,
presented by His Excellency Dr Mihai Stefan Stuparu - Ambassador of
Romania was awarded to two recipients: Rachel Smith (Graduate
Diploma Sound) and John Peters (Graduate Diploma
Directing)
and The Shark Island Foundation Award for
Documentary was presented by Susan Mackinnon from the
Shark Island Foundation and awarded to Ben Mathews (Graduate
Diploma Directing)
