RACHEL PERKINS’ BRAN NUE DAE RECEIVES A STANDING OVATION AT SUNDANCE

Bran Nue Dae the latest feature project by AFTRS graduate Rachel Perkins (Producing, 1996) is not only enjoying success at the box office here in Australia, but is scoring points overseas after receiving a standing ovation at its opening screening at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, USA last week.

 

Bran Nue Dae is screening seven times throughout the Sundance Film Festival (from Jan 21-31, 2010), with Drew McWeeny from US entertainment site HitFix.com declaring it "… a joyous film, and a genuine emotional experience.  The movie's earnest charm makes it almost impossible to dislike…"


Bran Nue Dae is a feel-good musical directed by Rachel Perkins. The screenplay was written by Rachel Perkins, Reg Cribb and Jimmy Chi. Cinematography was by fellow AFTRS graduate Andrew Lesnie (Cinematography, 1979).

 

This is the second time Rachel Perkins has been invited to Sundance, the first time was in 2002 for her feature One Night The Moon.


Bran Nue Dae is currently screening  in cinemas nationally.
