Meet your future tutors and collaborators, take a behind-the-scenes tour of our state-of-the-art facilities and watch current students at work, get the lowdown on our 2020 courses and how to ace your application, and find out why we’re The Hollywood Reporter’s Australian film school of choice.

Guided Tours
AFTRS facilities
Three school-wide guided tours will take you through the studios, teaching rooms, editing suites and a colour grading demonstration.

Tours leave from reception at 10.45 AM, 12.00 PM and 2.00 PM

Radio studios
Check out the state-of the-art AFTRS radio studios, meet lecturers and students and learn about our radio and podcasting activity.

Tours leave from reception at 10.15 AM, 11.30 AM, 1.00 PM and 2.30 PM

Cinematography Workshop
Learn about three-point lighting set-ups and cameras in a hands-on experience of the Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production course in action. Drop in to sessions in teaching room 2.4 between 10.00 AM-12.30 PM or 1.00 PM-3.00PM

Open Studios
Explore our world-class facilities, see a showcase of sets and participate in a green screen demonstration in our studios.

Live Filmmaking Exercise
Keep an eye out for a group of third-year Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production students as they progress from concept to scripting, shooting and editing an application-style video in the space of a day. Then join us in the main theatre at 2.15 PM to see the finished product and get some tips about how to go about your own application.

Film Showcase
Head into the Mix Theatre to view an inspiring selection of films by AFTRS alumni.

Books and AFTRS Merchandise for Sale
Australia’s leading screen arts and broadcasting library is open to the public. Browse the collection, stop by the jam-packed book sale, and pick up some highly coveted AFTRS merch while you’re there.
