To celebrate International Women’s Day 2019 (which is later in the week), TV Talks is honoured to feature one of our TV screens ‘National Living Treasures’ (and incredibly impressive woman) Jenny Brockie, who will be speaking one-on-one with another female industry legend, Anita Jacoby. Join them ‘in conversation’ where they’ll Talk TV (of course), hosting SBS’s ‘Insight’, the broader media industry, the state of news and current affairs, future proofing your career, gender and much more.

Jenny Brockie

Jenny Brockie is one of Australia’s most experienced and respected journalists and broadcasters. She currently hosts INSIGHT on SBS television, where she facilitates a lively discussion each week involving more than 50 people. With decades of interviewing and broadcasting experience, Jenny’s career has spanned many media roles and platforms. She’s been a news and current affairs reporter, a documentary producer and director, as well as a prime time radio and tv presenter.

She began her broadcasting career with ABC television and radio news, and has hosted the Morning Show on 702 ABC Radio Sydney as well as her own interview series SPEAKING PERSONALITY on ABC TV. Jenny has reported extensively both nationally and internationally for current affairs programs including FOUR CORNERS. Her ground breaking feature length documentary COP IT SWEET about Sydney’s Redfern Police, won five major television awards, including the Gold Walkley Award, a Logie and an AFI Award.

Jenny won the 2013 All Media Walkey Award for Interviewing for her work on INSIGHT. She has also won eight United Nations Association Media Peace Awards for her work on the program. Jenny has a swag of other television awards including 2 other Walkley’s, another AFI award for her documentary ‘So Help Me God’, and a Human Rights TV Award.

Anita Jacoby

Anita Jacoby is an award-winning producer, broadcast executive, journalist and non-executive director. She has held senior production roles with all the FTA broadcasters and Foxtel, as well as in the independent production sector. As Managing Director of ITV Studios Australia she was responsible for the local operations of this global production company. Prior to this she managed Zapruder’s other films for a decade alongside Andrew Denton. Zapruder’s was responsible for hundreds of hours of innovative programming including Enough Rope, The Gruen Transfer, God on my Side and Elders.

Anita currently sits on the Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA), is a Director of Women in Media Australia and the Australian Film Institute/AACTA. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women, established the Jacoby Walkley Scholarship and is a non-executive director on a number of NFP boards. In 2019 she was appointed a member of the Order of Australia.

TV Talks is a free networking event for the TV industry. It is an opportunity to watch, listen and laugh along with a panel of engaging industry guests with some good, old-fashioned networking afterwards. One Tuesday of each month, February through to November. RSVP is essential.
