Girl, Interpreted, a new web series by 2017/18 Talent Camp participants Grace Feng Fang Juan and Nikki Tran has just launched online and is available to stream worldwide.
Off the back of being picked up by streaming platforms Tencent Video and iQiyi for online distribution in China, the Melbourne-created series can now be viewed on YouTube and will have a special launch screening at the National Gallery of Victoria on 25 January.
Girl, Interpreted is a bilingual Mandarin and English series that follows a young nervous interpreter as she stutters and stumbles her way through the job and a world of cultural misunderstanding. Inspired by writer/director Feng’s professional experience as an interpreter, the comedy shines a light on the crucial role of translators in facilitating communication for the day-to-day of migrant communities in contemporary Australia.

The series, produced by Nikki Tran, features lead actress Jenny Zhou (ABC’s Please Like Me, Netflix’s Chosen) and was funded with support from Screen Australia, Film Victoria and the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
