But Is It A Good idea?

How do you know your idea is a good one? How can you validate it with others? How could you test it out in real life to de-risk the assumptions you have made?

Many of us have had strokes of brilliance in the shower where we came up with THE idea, but few of us have taken it forward. Having an idea in your head and bringing it to life are two very different things. It can be a big step, so this seminar will take you through some practical steps to take an existing idea you’ve been thinking about and take action.

In order to find out whether your idea is worth investing in, we’ll show you how to validate it with real people, whether that is with partners, audience, stakeholders, donors or staff members. We will step through a few simple ways to collect feedback, make observations and get it out there in the real world as quick as possible.

You’ve likely made many assumptions about your idea. Do people really want it? Are they willing to pay for it and will they see value in it? Can you actually execute it? Do you have the skills to do it? We’ll go through how to run an experiment to isolate unknown variables and test them to validate your hypothesis. We’ll talk through various types of experiments you can run to give you greater certainty that you are onto a winner.

At the end of each session, participants will have had the chance to use the tools demonstrated and apply them to their own idea.

The seminar runs from 2 pm – 5.30 pm with two breaks and will be delivered completely online via Zoom Video. If you are unable to attend the session but would like access to the recording afterwards, enrol below and we’ll send out a link after the session. Please note the recording is only available for one week after the session.

Discounts are available for bookings of three or more attendees in the seminar. To get this discount, please call AFTRS Short Courses on 1300 223 877.

Once you are enrolled we will send out instructions for participation.

You will need to bring a specific, tangible idea that you want to work on to the seminar as we will take you through exercises to flesh it out. By specific we mean something you can actually implement (i.e. not doing something better or faster, but something new or different that you haven’t tried before).
