Comedy Writers Room Workshop

This one-day online workshop is designed for screenwriters interested in further developing their comedy writing skills for screen, and gaining an understanding of the inner workings of a comedy writers’ room. Building on the principles learnt in Narrative Comedy Fundamentals this course gives you the opportunity to work on practical exercises both collaboratively and independently.

Grow confidence in your ability to put into practice key principles of narrative comedy.

Learn how to effectively communicate your ideas and work collaboratively.

Gain an understanding of the workings, practice, and etiquette of a professional comedy writers’ room environment.

Is the Comedy Writers Room Workshop right for you?

This course is best suited for students who have completed the Narrative Comedy Fundamentals with Tim Ferguson as it builds on the principles learnt in that course. These fundamentals will not be covered again in this highly practical intensive workshop, rather is an opportunity to put into practice and build upon this knowledge. If you have not previously attended the Fundamentals course, there will be some light reading material available ahead of the Workshop to catch up on or refresh yourself.

The nature of this course is highly collaborative and involves group work with other students on in-class exercises.
