Money Money Money

The question on all content makers lips: How to find “the money people” and give them what they want.

Unless you have won the lottery recently, the harsh reality of being a screen creative is that you also need to be a creative business person. Having a bestie at a screen agency is not a guaranteed path to funding success, you need to be able to develop and articulate the business case for your project, and then you need to be able to find, and talk to, ‘the money’. But what forms of money are we talking about? Who has it? What are they looking for? What do they want from you?

Join screen industry veteran and investor Deanne Weir and some special guests for an entertaining and thought-provoking afternoon that gives you some tips about what you need to think about, how you can articulate your case, and what might be some innovative new paths to finance. Confirmed guests include Ian Murray and Sophie Mathisen.

The seminar runs from 2 pm to 5.30 pm with a half-hour break and will be delivered completely online via Zoom.

Discounts are available for bookings of three or more attendees in the seminar. To get this discount please phone AFTRS on 1300 223 877.

Where to look for project financing outside of government agencies

How to best prepare your pitch to appeal to investors

What you need to prepare before you start looking for funding

Why go to this seminar?

Raising finance is one of the most challenging aspects of being a producer in the Australian creative sector. You will often have only one chance to pitch to a possible investor or project champion, and you really don’t want to waste that chance. So if you are looking for project financing, this will be an afternoon well spent.

This Seminar is part of AFTRS’ Short, Sharp and Immediately Useful series of professional development seminars. Check out the other seminars in the series.
