Dr. Georgie McClean is a media/arts professional with over 15 years’ experience in high-level strategy, thought leadership, communications, policy and research. She has led deep engagement with the issues and trends shaping global media, screen work and culture and has helmed industry research, forums and events to build the capabilities of our screen and cultural industries.
Motivated by a strong belief in the power of storytelling as a source of connection and transformation, Georgie has a strong practical knowledge of the screen and media industries. She has run her own consultancy, The Gist: Strategy and Engagement, headed up Strategy and Communications at Screen Australia, and prior to that, was Manager of Policy and Research at SBS.
With an applied research Doctorate of Cultural Research on diversity and media policy, Georgie has a longstanding understanding of better engagement with diversity as central to the success of our industry. She is particularly interested in translating between ideas, research and practice for the benefit of public policy and audiences.
Georgie was born in Canada, raised in Indonesia and has lived in Argentina and Japan.
