Gina Roncoli

Lecturer

Gina Roncoli is an award-winning screen writer, story producer and script editor.  A former journalist, she was a reporter for Channel 10 Eyewitness News in Adelaide before founding the independent arts tabloid, The Adelaide Review. After graduating from the AFTRS, she wrote and produced a number of short films, before co-writing and producing the documentary film Canto A La Vida.  It screened on ABC TV and won the AFI Award for Best Documentary and the Special Jury Prize at the San Francisco International Film Festival. 

Since then Gina has written, developed and script edited for major broadcasters and production companies, including Beyond, The ACTF, Essential Media, Matchbox and the ABC. Specialising for many years in animation and children’s series, credits include My Place, Mal.com, Gasp, Zigby , Erky Perky, Raggs, Deadly, Wicked, Sweat, Blinky Bill’s Round the World Adventure, The Woodlies and Bambalo ­– for which she won. an Australian Writer’s Guild Award for Best Children’s Script. More recently she was the Story Producer for Grace Beside Me, an Indigenous teen series for NITV and ABC Me.

Gina also has a strong background in feature film development and was as an investment manager for the former NSW Film & TV Office. For the past 10 years she has been an industry consultant for ACMA, and regularly works as a script consultant and assessor. Passionate about storytelling across all platforms, she frequently lectures for the AFTRS, JMC Academy and UTS, and Chairs the NSW Committee of the Australian Writers’ Guild.
