Leah Pellinkhof

Leah Pellinkhof is a trained and experienced director, film and theatre maker, writer, cinematographer, editor,  intimacy coordinator and arts educator. Her extensive resume covers over 20 years as an arts educator and award winning film & theatre maker.

She is a director of Playhead Productions, the founder and director of Intimacy on Screen, founding member of the Queer Film Collective and has formally been the artistic director of Front Row Theatre Company, and former member of the board of directors at Queer Screen.

She started her career in the entertainment industry as an actor, appearing in various short & feature films, TV commercials and stage productions . Although she received much kudos as a performer, Leah decided to take a step out of the spotlight to go behind the scenes.

Her work as a director has ranged over Shakespeare, musicals, stand-up comedy, feature films, series, music videos and her own original productions.

Her writing and directing talents have scored her many accolades. ’The Works of William Shakespeare (BY CHICKS)’ was acknowledges with a Dell’Arte award for best play, The Matilda award nominated ’My Pet Human’ also scored her a Dell’Arte Award for favourite playwright. Her short film “Chook and Maureen’ which she wrote produced and performed in won the Tropical Alternative Film Festival, Her award winning short film ’Kenosis Kiss’ has screened at festivals world wide, she directed the award winning web series ‘Thirty’ and many of her shows have received rave reviews, sell out seasons and audience acclaim.
