Margaret Tillson is the owner of Front and Centre Media and an independent Producer/PM.
Margaret began working in the Australian Film and Television industry in 2002, kicking off her career as a Script Supervisor in the days of celluloid before moving into the production office. Since 2012, she has worked in a variety of production roles with some of Australia’s premier drama and documentary teams. Highlights include; Hacksaw Ridge, Doctor Doctor S1, Love Child S4, RIOT, High Life, Soul Mates, Terminus, Backyard Ashes, The Pool, The Scribe and Two Tonnes of Love for U.S Discovery Channel’s, Shark Week.
From 2010 to 2011 her ‘in between films’ gig was working with some of the best minds in the country, as Digital Media Manager for The Creative Industries Innovation Centre (CIIC). Supported with funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Industry and the University of Technology Sydney, the program developed innovative services demonstrating the critical place Design Thinking has in driving business competitiveness across the economy.
Inspired by her time at the CIIC, Margaret returned to academic studies, graduating in 2013 with a Master of Arts – Screen Arts and Business, from the Australian Film Television and Radio School. Here she investigated the application of Design Thinking Methodology (DTM) to the ‘wicked’ problems of our industry.
Margaret is a passionate advocate of Australian screen stories and the people who bring them to life. Her experience seeing work colleagues struggle with the pressures of the industry (sometimes with heartbreaking results), has fuelled a desire to apply her skills in the support of creative leaders who are committed to designing healthy, happy and prosperous workplaces. In 2020, she is excited to be working in partnership with Kyla Tustin from The Greate Group and others, who are bringing new energy and support services to the industry.
