Hire of Facilities

AFTRS is currently unable to accommodate general external facility hire requests.

Our venues are often at capacity meeting the demands of our core business, including the delivery of education, training and industry engagement activities, so we are not accepting general external venue hire enquiries.

As the national screen and broadcast school, AFTRS remains committed to supporting the Australian screen, broadcast and creative industries where possible. We may exceptionally consider opportunities from our industry partners that align with AFTRS’ strategic priorities, values and purpose, and that offer meaningful benefit to the industry, our students and the wider creative community.

If you believe your proposal aligns with this focus, please contact industryuse@aftrs.edu.au with an outline of your event or project. Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and the submission of an enquiry does not guarantee availability or approval.

Current AFTRS students should refer to the Student Centre for information on accessing AFTRS facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are there any restrictions on what activities the hire can use used for?

Yes, AFTRS reserves the right to decline hires if they are deemed a conflict of interest or high risk. This may include, but is not limited to, educational courses from providers that are not AFTRS, and activities not aligned with AFTRS values or Strategy. 

2. I want to hire a space to shoot my film. Is this allowed?

We do not allow external film shoots in any of our spaces  

3. I want to hire a space to run an educational course, is this allowed?

We are unable to accept bookings for external educational courses as it is a conflict of interest with AFTRS. Exceptions can be made for educational partnerships, please contact email industryuse@aftrs.edu.au and we will forward your request to the relevant team.    

4. Do you provide live streaming? 

We do not provide an in-house live streaming service, but we may be able to work with your preferred company. Please include your requirements in your initial enquiry.  

5. Is insurance required to hire AFTRS facilities?

Public liability insurance is required for all hires, except in exceptional circumstances.
