Why study Documentary at AFTRS
In the digital era, documentary film and series have engaged and impacted international audiences like never before. You will direct at least four films during the MAS Documentary course, with shoots both on-location and at AFTRS world-class studios.
Documentary directing skillsets
Develop your directing and storytelling skills through hands-on specialist workshops, masterclasses and industry mentoring. This will deepen your understanding of documentary and best-practice collaborations, supporting you in becoming a creative leader.
Expand your knowledge
You will learn about visual storytelling and screen business, expanding your understanding of all aspects of documentary making – from story conception, development and pitching, through to shooting and editing and the marketplace/distribution. You will work closely with the Producers, Cinematographers and Editors to create market-ready projects.
DISCOVER YOUR VOICE
Develop an adaptable creative practice, with a future focused skillset. Learn to document your process and analyse how your practice engages with screen culture as a documentary maker.
