Rich Welch is an experienced documentary curator, filmmaker and lecturer.
As Festival Co-Director of the Antenna Documentary Film Festival, Rich has presided over establishing Antenna as one of Australia’s premier film festivals dedicated to documentary cinema since its inaugural year in 2011.
Throughout his tenure as Festival Co-Director, Rich has driven innovative industry programs, including the Antenna DocTalk and Horizons, forging connections with some of the world’s leading festivals, broadcasters and OnDemand platforms including Sundance, Berlinale, Hot Docs and BBC Storyville. Locally, he has extensive and long-standing relationships with broadcasters, funders, distributors and documentary filmmakers.
Rich has a Bachelors degree in Film, a Masters degree in Documentary and is currently undertaking a Higher Research degree candidacy at Macquarie University, in the Doctor of Philosophy program.
An experienced documentary director/producer, Rich’s latest film recently premiered at the 2018 Revelation International Film Festival and has a new feature documentary due for release in early 2019.

Rich is also an experienced lecturer, specialising in documentary and for the last three years successfully ran the post-graduate degree in Documentary at AFTRS, creating an inspirational and collaborative learning environment to foster exciting future leaders in Australia’s film and television industry.
