Sydney screen composer and AFTRS alumna Angela Little (Master of Arts: Film, Television and Digital Media Screen Composition – 2007) will be heading to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles to undertake a Master of Music, having been awarded the Sandra and Alan Silvestri Scholarship.
Widely considered to be the most prestigious scoring course in the world, only 20 students are admitted per year. Little is this intake’s top-ranked worldwide applicant.
“I couldn’t believe it when I received a personal email from Alan Silvestri congratulating me on winning this scholarship!” Little, whose credits include the documentary Zach’s Ceremony and the horror film The Clinic, said. said. “His music affected me deeply from a young age – these are the people you dream of meeting as a film composer. I’m so excited about the opportunity to work with leading mentors and role models at USC. I’m also grateful to the Australia Council for the Arts, the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, and the PPCA Performers’ Trust, who are also supporting my program of professional development in the USA.”
Notable alumni of the screen scoring program include Christophe Beck (Frozen), Bear McCreary (Outlander), James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games) and Marco Beltrami (The Hurt Locker/ Scream), who Angela collaborated with as a vocal soloist on the 2016 Alex Proyas blockbuster Gods of Egypt.
Angela’s upcoming projects include the feature film Chocolate Oyster, directed by Steve Jaggi, documentary series How Mad Are You?, presented by Blackfella Films and SBS, and the feature Back of the Net, produced by the Steve Jaggi Company.
