AFTRS is proud to announce the appointment of Nell Greenwood as Director of Curriculum and Registrar.
Ms Greenwood is a teacher, screenwriter and script consultant with more than 20 years of experience in screen education and international film and television production. For the past 11 years she has had a number of roles at AFTRS including lecturer (screenwriting, directing and producing), Head of Screenwriting, Course Leader Masters in Screen and Head of Programs.
Nell brings extensive industry networks in Australia, Europe and the US to the role. Prior to her work at AFTRS, she was a screenwriter and development executive, working as Head of Development for the Irish Film Board as well as several European production companies, including Jude Law and Ewan McGregor’s production company Natural Nylon Entertainment and Element Films with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe.
Working with her husband Ronan Glennane, Nell wrote the story for “False Witness” for UKTV (Foxtel), which won the AFI Award for best mini-series. Nell and Ronan’s first telefilm “Pride & Joy” was nominated for Best TV Film at the 46th Monte Carlo TV Film Festival.
AFTRS CEO Neil Peplow said of the new appointment: “Nell’s extensive experience in screen education, coupled with her industry background, ideally positions her to lead the AFTRS award course division. Nell’s work as Head of Screenwriting, course leader of the Masters in Screen and most recently Program leader for the School’s award courses, has already delivered fantastic outcomes for AFTRS’ students. Her commitment to developing talent has been demonstrated by the success of her students and I am incredibly excited to see what she will achieve in her new role.”
Ms Greenwood said: “I have learned so much from working alongside the brilliant teachers, staff and students at AFTRS. I look forward to bringing my experience in education, industry and creativity to build on the excellence we’ve achieved in aligning industry and educational best practice and delivering the highest-quality courses. It’s a great honour to be in this position at such an exciting time for the school.”
Applications for AFTRS 2019 Masters programs and Graduate Diploma in Radio close on 15 October, and the Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production closes on 12 November.
