Alumni Works Shortlisted for AACTA Awards

AACTA has announced the inaugural Shorts + Web Fest which will screen a selection of films and series’ shortlisted for this year’s AACTA Awards. Featured among these are several works by AFTRS alumni across the Best Short Film, Best Short Documentary and Best Online Video or Series categories.

The Best Short Film category includes Snare written by James Fraser (Foundation Diploma, 2012) and featuring the work of costume designer Laura Anna Lucas (Master of Arts Screen, 2018), Yulubidyi – Until The End directed by Nathan Mewett (Master of Arts Screen, 2008) and edited by Jessie Hildebrand (Master of Arts Screen, 2018; Graduate Diploma in Editing, 2011) and The Egg, edited by Lucas Baynes (Diploma in Editing Fundamentals, 2016).

Documentaries include Woven Threads directed by Michi Marosszeky (Graduate Certificate in Screen Culture, 2012) and produced by Paul Sullivan (Graduate Diploma: Screen Business, 2010) and Saving Seagrass edited by Rochelle Oshlack (Graduate Certificate: Screenwriting, 2010).

Produced by Robbie Miles (Graduate Certificate: Screen Drama – Directing & Screenwriting, 2009) and lensed by Justine Kerrigan (Bachelor of Arts – Film & Television Cinematography, 1996) new ABC iView series Sarah’s Channel has been shortlisted in the Best Online Video or Series. Lift by director Zoe Pepper (Graduate Certificate in Directing fundamentals 2012) and executive producer Chloe Rickard (Master of Screen Arts & Business, 2015) also features in the category as does Robbie Hood, edited by Kelly Cameron (Master of Screen Arts 2017; Graduate Diploma in Editing 2012).
