Brunch Shift Massacre, written and directed by AFTRS graduand Adam Boys (Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production, 2018), will have its world premiere at the 37th annual Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFF). The festival focuses on fantasy, science-fiction and thriller films and includes several international short film categories. Brunch Shift Massacre will screen alongside work from filmmakers from countries including Argentina, Sweden, Israel and Canada.

Made as Adam’s final project, the darkly comic Brunch Shift Massacre tells the story of a waiter who struggles to get out of bed and to work every morning, and his experiences with a typical brunch shift. When the horrors of the shift become too much to handle, the only logical conclusion is violent and powerful, with a sprinkle of humour for good measure.

As the writer, director and lead performer of the short, Adam Boys is incredibly excited to see his film screened at the festival, “To be premiering this film on an International stage is extremely flattering. To be able to present this at a festival like BIFFF is beyond belief. To be amongst the calibre and legacy of this festival is a pure and humbling joy.”

“I would never have been able to create this film without the talent and support of my incredible peers. And due to our dedicated mentors, such as Simeon Bryan, Tony Bosch and Annie Wright, who made time in their schedules and went above and beyond to support us, we were able to take risks and push ourselves with confidence because these legends believed in us.”

Alongside watching films, other activities at BIFF include the 32nd International Body Painting Contest and Vampire Ball. Peruse the full program here.
