Film Showcasing AFTRS Talent Wins Audience Award for Best Feature at Mardi Gras Film Festival

Created by a team featuring some of AFTRS brightest emerging talent, Ellie & Abbie (& Ellie’s Dead Aunt) has snagged the Best Feature Audience Award at this year’s Mardi Gras Film Festival.

Directed by Monica Zanetti with first assistant director, Hattie Archibald (Master of Arts Screen, 2018; Graduate Certificate in Directing Fundamentals, 2013) and third assistant director Nicola Macindoe (Bachelor of Arts Screen, 2018), the work was the first Australian film in the Mardi Gras Film Festival’s 27-year-history to open the festival.

The screening, held on 13 February, was the feature’s world premiere. The film garnered an excellent response, including great reviews, and a glowing write-up published in The Guardian.
