Heaven-Sent: AFTRS Alum Vanessa Gazy’s ‘Eden’ is Coming Soon to Stan

Still from ‘Eden’ | Dir. Peter Andrikidis, John Curran, Mirrah Foulkes

With the release of the official trailer, anticipation is high for Eden, a new television series by 2014 Master of Screen Arts graduate Vanessa Gazy.

Produced by Every Cloud Productions and Balloon Entertainment, Eden was developed by Gazy in collaboration with Fiona Eagger and Deb Cox (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) and Skins creator Bryan Elsley. Gazy also serves as executive producer and head writer for the series, leading an all-female writing team featuring Jess Brittain (Clique), Anya Beyersdorf (Shakespeare Now), Clare Sladden (Freudian Slip) and Penelope Chai (Other People’s Problems).

Working alongside Gazy on the Stan Original was fellow AFTRS alum Peter Andrikidis (Bachelor of Arts (Film & Television), 1980), who directed the series with John Curran (We Don’t Live Here Anymore, The Painted Veil, Stone) and Mirrah Foulkes (Judy & Punch). Eden received major production support from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW, along with financial support from all3media International, the global distribution partner on the series.

Shot around NSW’s Northern Rivers, the eight-part mystery-drama is set in an idyllic coastal town, where the disappearance of a young woman triggers a devastating chain of events, laying bare the dark and hidden heart of the community.

The dynamic cast of Australian up-and-comers includes BeBe Bettencourt (The Dry), Sophie Wilde (Bird), Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash), Cody Fern (American Horror Story), Samuel Johnson (Molly) and Christopher James Baker (True Detective), alongside veterans Rachael Blake (Cleverman), Leeanna Walsman (Penguin Bloom), Simon Lyndon (Mystery Road) and Maggie Kirkpatrick (Sando, The Letdown)

With the series on the eve of its release, Gazy currently has a number of other projects in the works. Her eight-part mystery thriller, Id, is in the final stages of development with Netflix, and her short film Highway being developed into a high-concept feature, produced by Goalpost Pictures and Automatik (LA).

Eden has been acquired by streaming platform Spectrum Originals and due to land in the US in the coming months.
