Become a Picture & Sound Recordist

Led by experienced cinematographer Paul Warren you will be introduced to techniques and practical skills that will enable you to produce high quality images and sound for documentary and drama with an eye to great storytelling – the goal of all good filmmaking.

Covers recording optimum picture and achieving good sound, focusing on the basics

Learn about scene coverage and how to tell a story with a compelling series of shots

Be introduced to the practical considerations of ‘freestyle’ filmmaking and the demands of shooting with a one or two person crews, a distinctly different form of filmmaking to larger production teams and projects

Ideally suited to those who have limited or no camera and sound recording experience, this course will introduce you to techniques and practical skills that will enable you to produce high quality images and sound for documentary and drama.

No prior experience necessary to do this course. Cameras and sound equipment is supplied by AFTRS. This course is only open to students aged 18 +.
