Chris Squadrito

Chris is an award-winning screenwriter, director, script editor, and producer based in Sydney.

In 2023, Chris’ dark comedy web series ‘Vanlife (Emotional)’, which he produced, wrote and directed, enjoyed a successful festival run, in which it was nominated for and won over a dozen awards at events including C21, Marseille Webfest, Toronto International Webfest, Stareable NYC, and SPAA. He is currently developing the series into an 8 x half hour long-form series with both local and international partners.

As a script editor and writer, he most recently worked on Fremantle Media/ABC’s 2022 miniseries ‘Significant Others’, Luke Davies ‘A Dry, Quiet War,’ Goalpost’s 2019 Foxtel miniseries ‘Fighting Season’ for Blake Ayshford, and Netflix’s first Australian Original series ‘Tidelands’, from Hoodlum Entertainment.

Chris has extensive experience in scripted development and script departments, and worked with Essential Media and Entertainment with Ian Collie (Rake) on projects with numerous A-list practitioners including Blake Ayshford, Sarah Lambert and Tony McNamara.

He has numerous TV series and feature films in active development, previously collaborating with US production companies Mad Rabbit, Anonymous Content and Word Games, and Australian production companies/networks including Fremantle Media, Easy Tiger, Princess Pictures and Essential Media & Entertainment.

Chris has a Masters in Screenwriting from the Australian Film Television and Radio School, where he penned the award-winning short film ‘By This River’, an adaptation of Christos Tsiolkas’ ‘The Disco At The End Of Communism’, and was the recipient of the prestigious Foxtel Award for Exceptional New Talent.

He is also currently undertaking his Honours in Psychology, which he finds feeds into his screenwriting practice, providing him with an invaluable insight into character psyche and the human condition.
