James Nowiczewski

James Nowiczewski (Nova) is a veteran audio professional with over 35 years’ experience in the film and television industry. He began his career in audio post-production in 1990, transitioning full-time to location sound in 2002. Since then, Nova has worked at the highest levels of production both in Australia and internationally, from large-scale reality TV to feature films.

His credits include Furiosa, Elvis, Peter Rabbit 1 & 2, Heartbreak High, and the upcoming Spaceballs 2, along with hundreds of hours of reality television such as Australian Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Better Homes & Gardens, where he served as Sound Supervisor for seven years.

A respected figure in the sound community, Nova is the founder and moderator of Australia’s largest production sound forum, a committee member of the Australian Screen Sound Guild, guest lecturer at leading film schools including AFTRS, a keynote speaker at industry conventions, and a published writer for international sound magazines. He holds a postgraduate degree in communications, with a dissertation on observational documentary.

Nova is passionate about providing a supportive, professional, and calm presence on set, believing that clear communication and crew wellbeing are essential for achieving outstanding production sound.
