Producer Anna Grieve specialises in documentary, with a particular interest in investigative history. She is a partner in Tamarind Tree Pictures, a majority-owned Indigenous production company.
As an Executive Producer at Film Australia, Anna was responsible for an extensive production slate that included Dhakiyarr vs the King, which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, and the Logie-winning Who Killed Dr Bogle & Mrs Chandler?
Her work has been varied—from multi-platform series Big Stories Small Towns, a participatory media project that won best community interactive project at SXSW, to Irish-Australian feature documentary musical Death or Liberty, with Billy Bragg.
Anna’s documentary credits also include Sydney Film Festival finalist Croker Island Exodus, as well as The Family and The Cult of The Family for the ABC. She has co-produced the online series Kutcha’s Carpool Koorioke and one-hour documentary Looky Looky Here Comes Cooky—AACTA finalist and winner at the 2021 Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC).
The whole three years is a crazy blur of incredible energy, making films and full-on competition. Seven ambitious young women and 18 ambitious young men—challenging!—but it was the place where us women got to leap a few tall buildings.
Every project has its highs and lows. The highlight is to still be working and still loving filmmaking.
