AFTRS’ new visual identity received a Distinction Award at last weekend’s prestigious Australian Graphic Design Association’s 2018 Design Awards in the Branding – Large Business category. Undertaken with Sydney-based design studio M35, the new visual identity was unveiled in July of 2018, and was immediately recognised by the United Kingdom’s top design and branding website Visuelle.
AFTRS also received a Distinction Award in the Motion Branding category for the new animated motion system. Based on M35’s static design, the motion system was produced by Never Sit Still, and also received a special Judges Choice designation, with Clem Devine noting its appropriateness, “as film is a moving medium the brand should be too.”
The new visual identity involved a lengthy process of collaboration, with input from students, staff, and alumni, and the tireless commitment of M35. We’d like to thank everyone who was involved and made these awards possible.
