Streaming now: AFTRS Alumni work showcases on SBS and Netflix

One Four: Against All Odds | Patricia Moore | Erotic Stories | Night Bloomers

AFTRS Alumni showcase their work and storytelling prowess with the productions Patricia Moore, Nightbloomers and Erotic Stories streaming on SBS and One Four: Against All Odds streaming on Netflix. 

The film traces the meteoric rise of Australia’s first drill rap stars. The documentary takes the audience on a journey with the group as they build an exponential body of work, leading them to fast success as emerging leaders within the Pacific Islander community in Australia. Through this beacon of success, the members of One Four have to deal with increased attention from the police force as they navigate how to keep performing and sharing their work. 

This powerful documentary was directed by Gabriel Gasparinatos and produced with a crew including AFTRS alumni Grégoire Lière (Cinematography), Jennifer Peedom (Producer), Martin Demian (Main Sound Recordist), Jared Dwyer (Sound Effects Editor), Julie Anne De Ruvo (additional Editor) and Sarah Panzetta (Assistant Editor).

After a successful premiere at SXSW Sydney, One Four: Against All Odds will be streaming on Netflix from 26 October. 

   

Patricia Moore is a 10 episode drama series following the Moore family as they roam the outback in their converted bus, using their daughter Patricia to lure victims into dining on a stressful road trip with a cannibal family. When Patricia meets Toby, mum Marnie faces the fact that her daughter is growing up, and their carnivorous car trip can’t last forever.  

This thrilling bite-sized series of Australian horror includes work from AFTRS alumni Blake Fraser (Director), Tania Lambert (Cinematography), Jamie Cranney (Production Design), Michael Knott (Second Assistant Director), Martin Demian (Main Sound Recordist) and Gareth Evans (Sound). 

Patricia Moore will be streaming at SBS On Demand from 26 October. 

  

Erotic Stories is an 8 episode series exploring sex and intimacy and sparking fervent conversations around the tale twist and turns that takes on universal themes. 

AFTRS alumni Liam Heyen worked in the series as producer, and includes AFTRS alumni crew Laura Anna Lucas (Art Direction), Adrian Chiarella (Writer Episode 4), Sara Khan (Writer Episode 6), Tania Lambert (Cinematography 4 episodes) and William Hadinata (Series Script and Continuity). 

Erotic Stories will be streaming at SBS On Demand from 26 October. 

  

Nightbloomers is a horror anthology series exploring multigenerational stories from the unspoken immigration experiences of the Korean-Australian diaspora. It adapts a modern twist on ancient Korean folklore stories, mixed with the supernatural beliefs and story traditions from Korean Shamanism. 

The 5 episode series was shot in the Western Suburbs of Sydney as part of the SBS/NITV and Screen Australia’s Digital Original initiative to develop exciting and innovative short-form drama projects from screen creatives historically under-represented in the sector. 

The series is created, written, directed and produced by AFTRS Alumni Andrew Undi Lee, and includes work from AFTRS alumni Jacob Holmes Brown (Writer), Niv Ramkumar (Writer), Ashlea Ritchie (Producer), Goldie Soetianto (Cinematography), Stewart Arnott (Editor), Alex Francis (Sound) and Martin Demian (Sound). 

“What motivated me to create Night Bloomers was mainly to preserve the dying Korean-Australian narratives from first-generation Korean immigrants, while also honouring our culture of folklore and shamanistic storytelling, which are all under threat of becoming just memories for the next generation.” – Andrew Undi Lee
