Become a Premiere Pro Editor

This is a two-day introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro is the timeline-based video editing software application that comes bundled in the Adobe Creative Suite master collection, production premium and Creative Cloud. It is being used increasingly in production environments, corporate, schools, and DIY editing as an alternative to Final Cut Pro for timeline-based video editing. The course is delivered on Premiere Pro Creative Cloud (CC).

Basic editing skills

Learn how to capture HD video footage, basic editing and add audio, effects, transitions and text

Export and import

Export to a number of formats including web and import projects from other editing systems

Work with other Adobe applications

Work with other Adobe applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, Encore and After Effects

Is Premiere Pro Fundamentals right for you?

This is an introductory course covering the basics of using Premiere Pro and is designed for absolute beginners. It is suitable for people looking to begin editing on Premiere Pro for either professional or personal use. This course focuses on learning the software tools and how to best apply them for edit rather than the craft of editing or the role of editor.


Another short course at AFTRS covering Premiere Pro is the 5-day Videomaking Intensive. This is a good option for those looking to learn about video pre-production and production as well as post using Premiere Pro.

What you will need

This course is taught in a Mac lab, so it’s helpful to be comfortable in the Mac environment. Also, it’s a good idea to have a copy of the software so you can practise straight after the course. There is a free trial version available.

If a student wishes to withdraw from a course, they may do so up to 15 days before the course commences and get a full refund. Cancellations 14 days or less before course commencement will incur a penalty.

AFTRS reserves the right to cancel any course for any reason at any time. In the event of a course being cancelled by AFTRS prior to commencement a 100% refund or credit note of the course fees paid will be provided.

Should AFTRS need to cancel a course after commencement, but before its completion, reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule. If rescheduling is not feasible, it is at AFTRS sole discretion to issue either full or partial credit notes depending on the circumstances.

AFTRS will make every effort to ensure the scheduled run of any course.
