It is taught from a camera team perspective and is perfect for those with little or no experience working on a Virtual Production shoot, using an LED Volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get to work with or use a ‘Virtual Production’ LED Volume or wall?

Yes. This workshop is run in AFTRS LED Volume Studio using a 3 wall LED Volume configuration.

Will I get to work with a real camera and equipment?

Yes. This is a hands-on workshop style course, and you will have the opportunity to work with professional camera equipment in a professional studio environment.

Will I be able to say I am qualified Virtual Production LED Volume screen practitioner after this course?

No. This is an introductory course only and does not provide any formal qualification, but it does provide foundational knowledge in Virtual Production LED Volume practice.

Do I need to be a professional Cinematographer, First AD or Director to do this course?

No, however it is preferable that attendees have some professional experience as a Cinematographer, First AD or Director. The workshop assumes a basic level of professional of on set experience at least one of these roles. Without this students are likely to find the learning experience more challenging.

Do I need to know how to do 3D or use Unreal Engine to do this course?

No. This course has no requirements for participants to generate or create assets using 3D or Unreal Engine.

Will I get to work with professional actors?

No. However students may be asked to stand in as ‘actors’ on occasion.

Will we be focusing on directing performance in Virtual Production?

No. This workshop focuses primary on the processes and technical considerations involved in shooting on an LED Volume.

If a student wishes to withdraw from a course, they may do so up to 15 days before the course commences and get a full refund. Cancellations 14 days or less before course commencement will incur a penalty.

AFTRS reserves the right to cancel any course for any reason at any time. In the event of a course being cancelled by AFTRS prior to commencement a 100% refund or credit note of the course fees paid will be provided.

Should AFTRS need to cancel a course after commencement, but before its completion, reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule. If rescheduling is not feasible, it is at AFTRS sole discretion to issue either full or partial credit notes depending on the circumstances.
