Rachel Perkins

Rachel, a woman of the Arrernte and Kalkadoon nations, has a 30-year career in film and media. She is a writer, director and producer of multiple award-winning television drama, documentaries and feature films.

She founded Australia’s premier Indigenous production company, Blackfella Films, in 1992 and has worked with the Australian Film Commission (now Screen Australia), National Indigenous Television (NITV), the ABC & SBS and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies.

Rachel is currently the Executive Director of Cultural Heritage at the National Native Title Council and Chair of the Charles Perkins Trust for Children Students. She is an alumnus of the School, having graduated in 1995 and also previously served as a member of AFTRS Council from 1998 to 2003.
